Project Tigger

With this one we just wanted a crazy paint job and we also wanted it to have a little vintage flair. More on that later.

We started with an Epiphone LP Junior, modifying the body to look lighter and more interresting. You can't tell very well from the pictures, but we used epoxy filler to build up a ridge down the center of the guitar like a tiger's back.

The paint finish was definitely our most complicated yet. We started with a red base, then we shot pink and orange through mesh fabric (like Project Toxic's paint job), then we did an additional mesh coat of white for the back. The stripes were masked off and the same mesh technique was used, this time blue over black. Odd colors make for a nice retro look. The finish was worn slightly with very fine sandpaper, and then we shot the whole thing with lacquer. Normally we would use an epoxy clear, but lacquer just says vintage.

The pickup was given a gold cover (did we mention the vintage theme?) Finally, the stock knobs were replaced with a pair from a vintage Mosrite (yeah, we know they're probably worth more than the whole guitar =o), which really compliment everything nicely.
