Personal Data:
I hold the title of Professor of Psychology at Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Colorado. I am the recipient of the 1998 Denmark National Faculty Advisor Award bestowed by the Psi Chi National Office in Chattanooga, TN and also the prestigious Distinguished Faculty Award granted by my colleagues at Mesa State in April 1998. I am a Past-President of the Rocky Mountain Psychological Association (RMPA 2004) and am extremely pleased to have been recognized by my local and national peers for the teaching and mentoring work that I've done.

I was born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi, where my parents and my brother and his family still reside.

I received my Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology in 1980 from the University of Mississippi, Oxford, Mississippi. My dissertation was in the topic area of behavioral pharmacology and is entitiled "Chronic Effects of Neuroleptics Having High or Low Incidence of Extrapyramidal Side-Effects upon Force, Duration and Rate of Operant Response in Rats." I gained my first teaching experiences while in graduate school. I held my first full-time teaching position at Belhaven College in Jackson, MS from 1980 to 1984, where I was Assistant Professor and Chair of the Psychology Dept. I moved west to Grand Junction to live close to the mountains and to accept a teaching position at Mesa State College in 1984. I've steadily moved up the ranks from Assistant Professor to full Professor while at Mesa State College.

In addition to my career at Mesa State College, I enjoy the natural beauty of the surrounding geographical areas. I live in the desert outside of Grand Junction, about 12 miles from Mesa State. I enjoy hiking, four-wheel driving, and simply observing nature. I also enjoy travel and taking photos of beautiful scenery.
